The Lyons Township Hockey Club Coaching staff is lead by Hockey Director, John Proctor.
Hockey Director - John Proctor
John has been involved with youth hockey for both boys and girls for over a decade. His coaching experience spans from Mites to High School and his players have won and participated in state championships along the way. Programs John has been involved with are the Chicago Hawks, St. Jude Knights, Hinsdale Central Hockey Club and now Lyons Township Hockey Club. John played his youth hockey in Illinois, High School Hockey at Marist and College Hockey at the University of Illinois. As director his focus is to create an environment that builds confidence, improves hockey skills and emphasize the importance of teamwork. To build a winning culture lessons taught off the ice are just as important as what is taught on the ice. Ultimately the goal is for players to have fun, work hard, be successful and develop friendship that will last well past their time at LTHC.
Varsity
Head Coach - Benjamin Engle
Ben has been a part of the Lyons Township Hockey Club for the past seven seasons. His first two seasons, he was the Varsity First Assistant Coach. During the 2018-19 season, he became the Varsity Head Coach. Benjamin grew up playing hockey in Minnesota where he continued to play through high school. He will never forget his roots on the Minnesota ponds where he learned to skate and to respect the game. His mission is to instill work ethic, skills, vision on the ice, passion and knowledge of the game to all players playing for LT Hockey!
Assistant Coach - Connor Mosquera
Connor has been skating and playing hockey since the age of 3 in the Chicagoland area. He was a captain for 3 years at Lyons Township high school from 2007-2010 and led his team to back-to-back league Cougar Cup league titles his junior and senior year. After graduating from LT, he played at the University of Iowa. Connor is entering his 4th year of coaching, after spending the last 3 years apart of the Spartan program. During his Spartan coaching days, he won multiple IHSHL league championships including out of state tournaments with his players. He currently lives in downtown Chicago and works in the real estate industry as a marketing sales associate for PNTN, a title insurance company. Connor looks to bring his passion, wealth of hockey knowledge, and experience to his alma matter and win even more championships as a coach than as he did as a player.
GOALIE COACH & VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH - LUCAS MCDONNELL
Luc has been playing hockey since the age of 7 in the south suburbs of Chicago. In his youth he played for the Orland Park Vikings then for Lincoln-Way Central High School. Luc’s family is not shy to the hockey scene in Chicago, his father, 4 Uncles, and his 17 Cousins all played high school hockey, and most now coach in the Chicagoland area. He currently lives in the South Suburbs and works at a retreat center in the area. This is will be Luc’s 4th year on staff and his mission is to instill work ethic, passion, knowledge and love for the game of hockey.
Junior Varsity
Head Coach - Patrick Meeks
Patrick brings a deep background in both competitive play and player development to his role as Lyons Township Junior Varsity Head Coach. A former AAA player and multi-time Metro West All-Star at Naperville Central, he continued his hockey career at Illinois State University while earning national tournament experience in roller hockey. Patrick has coached at the youth, high school, and varsity levels for more than a decade, including serving as Head JV Coach at Marist High School and working extensively with goalies through regional clinics and elite training programs. In addition to his coaching leadership, he holds advanced degrees in education and child development and works professionally with high-risk high school students, reflecting his strong commitment to mentorship both on and off the ice.
